Our Vision
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is a grant-making organization dedicated “to saving lives and ending breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.” The Tri-Cities Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is one of a network of 125 Affiliates around the country that supports and is advancing this Vision.
To further this Vision the Komen Tri-Cities Affiliate is committed:
- To become a leading regional organization and driving force in building awareness, understanding, education, screening and support for breast health and breast cancer
- To be a major source of funding for breast health education, screening and early detection and treatment options to underserved and underinsured women in our Southwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina
- To be a key resource in providing breast health education and breast cancer information to the communities we serve
- To be supported by a strong network of survivors, activists, volunteers and dedicated staff to achieve our goals and mission in serving the region
- To be a leading force in bringing change about to end breast cancer and save lives
It is our heartfelt belief that early detection is the single most important factor in surviving a breast-cancer diagnosis. We at the Tri-Cities Affiliate of Susan G. Komen are dedicated to educating all of our constituents in our 22 county service area on the importance of good breast health and early detection in saving lives and ending breast cancer as a life threatening disease.
