Breast Health & Awareness Education Volunteers
Affiliate Health Education Volunteers Reach Out to Women in NE TN, SW VA and Western NC Spreading Valuable Breast Health Awareness & Educational Messages.
The Affiliates Education team consists of women who share a passion to educate women and men about the importance of breast self awareness. They desire to share the important message about early detection and how it is the key to surviving breast cancer. Our education team consists of a diverse group of women. Some may be breast cancer survivors or co-survivors; while others are not. They may have nursing or oncology backgrounds; while many simply have a desire to provide others with lifesaving breast health information. We have volunteers who enjoy public speaking; and others who prefer to work at a Komen display table. In some instances, we have survivors who share their story of survival with small groups.
Since April 2008, the Tri-Cities Affiliate has participated in over 35 health fairs or other educational venues utilizing the time and talent of these incredible volunteers. Examples of events we have attended include high school or college girls volleyball or basketball tournaments, remote area medical health (RAM) events that serve the needs of under-served Appalachian women, women's health fairs or third party fund-raising venues.
Shown below are pictures of a few of our volunteers and some of the events they have given their time and talent to attend. THANK YOU EDUCATION VOLUNTEERS FOR YOUR DEDICATION!
